Ninth Grade Academy and Crossroads

Elberton Education Center is an alternative school that serves the educational needs of middle school students (Grades 6-8) and high school students (Grades 9-12).  Elberton Education Center utilizes the computer-based learning model through the Odyssey Program. The school currently houses two programs: Ninth Grade Academy and Crossroads.

Ninth Grade Academy was designed for first time 9th grade students who are experiencing academic difficulties based on the results of the previous year's CRCT scores. Students are provided an opportunity to receive the instruction, support, and assistance they need in a smaller classroom environment while earning the credits needed to be on track in a regular high school setting and while preparing them for successful high school careers. Placement in Ninth Grade Academy is made by an administrative committee.

Crossroads is a punitive alternative program for middle and high school students who have gone through the student disciplinary process (Tribunal or Waiver).  Students can still earn the credits or classes needed to be on track academically, but in a smaller and more structured, disciplined environment. When behavioral and academic requirements are met, students have the opportunity to return to their home school within the district.
